The role of the Mentor was found in this project to be a tetrad of key responsibilities, including liaison, vocational assessor, overseer and learning support. The mentor role is as much about facilitating training as it is about supporting the training provider to ensure; robust, relevant, sufficient, current and timely achievements. The second objective of the project action plan was elaborated during the project as the mentor role was clearly a lynch-pin to successful work-based training and embedding literacy, language, numeracy and ICT.
